Are you posting the right content to your social media accounts?

It’s no secret that social media plays a big role in your marketing strategy. With there being almost 3 billion active social media users worldwide, you need to use social media to reach a wider audience. The kind of content you post make determine whether you connect with your audience or lose their interest. When you have just 8 seconds or less to capture their attention, you must use the right type of media to hook them.

Know your platform.

To master social media marketing, you need to know what kind of content is suited to the social media platform you’re using. For example having just text for a Facebook post isn’t as effective as a short blurb on Twitter. Why? It’s because on Twitter, people expect short, witty comments that may or may not contain images. On Facebook, however, image-rich content, memes, and videos are becoming the norm to attract user engagement.

In fact, according to HubSpot, articles with images get 94% more views than those without images. As soon as other marketers started using infographics, video, and memes to promote their content on Facebook, they upped the ante for good Facebook marketing. When your audience expects images, they will be drawn to image-rich content over 9 times out of 10. Therefore, if you’re posting on Imgur, Tumblr or Instagram, then artistic and intentional images will resonate with your audience over mere text.

Make your content mobile-friendly.

Mobile use is ever on the rise, having surpassed desktop computer use for online searches. Therefore, your content needs to be mobile-friendly and suited for social media applications, not just computer screens.

Make your content easy to access and engage with on a phone or tablet. For infographics, don’t pack every square inch with text and unclear components. Keep in mind that the majority of users will be browsing your content on a screen that’s usually no bigger than the backs of their hands. If users have to stretch and expand their screens to understand your content, then you’re not making it an easy experience for your target audience.

Don’t make your comments too long either. Mobile users are often multitasking, which means that your content needs to be easy-to-digest. Short and sweet is the name of the game, so make your point soon and make it clear.
